Protecting the Next Generation Data Now Available to Other Researchers
Data from the Protecting the Next Generation: Understanding HIV Risk among Youth study in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Malawi and Uganda project are now available to the public, though the timing and conditions of availability vary. The different data sets for each country and their timing and conditions of availability are described below. All requests for data files must be accompanied by a completed Data Access form. Please see Data Request Form and Protocol below.
Data description and availability:
1. Focus group discussions (conducted in early 2003; 14-19 year olds, urban-rural areas, in-school and out-of-school)
- Transcripts, summary of methodology and guidelines are available.
- Burkina Faso (transcripts and instruments are in French), Ghana (English), Malawi (English) and Uganda (English).
2. In-depth interviews (conducted in late 2003; 12-19 year olds, urban-rural areas, in-school and out-of-school)
- Guidelines and summary of methodology are available.
- Interview transcripts are available for Burkina Faso and Malawi; Transcripts for Ghana and Uganda will become available around January 2007.
- Burkina Faso (transcripts and instruments are in French), Ghana (English), Malawi (English) and Uganda (English).
3. National Survey of Adolescents (conducted in early 2004; 12-19 year olds, household-based sample)
- Household and adolescent questionnaires are available. Burkina Faso instruments are in French. Ghana, Malawi and Uganda survey instruments are in English and local languages.
