Abortion

Anyone who needs abortion should be able to get timely, compassionate and affordable care, yet abortion bans and restrictions continue to push care further out of reach for many. The Guttmacher Institute produces relevant research and policy analyses on abortion in the United States, including abortion incidence data. Guttmacher also tracks abortion-related legislation and policies at the federal and state levels.

Nobody should be forced to leave their community, let alone their state of residence, to obtain an abortion. However, bans and other restrictions give many people no choice. Just because someone is ultimately able to obtain an abortion doesn’t mean it was an easy experience, and we know that some people in states with bans are unable to travel for care.
