Notes and Sources
Sources:
For each measure, the table maker identifies the title and citation information of the Guttmacher Institue publication from which the data were extracted. This information appears as the first row of the table.
Example: 1995/Source
- Bold date is the year the data were published by Gutmacher Institute.
- Source links to the full citation and to a link for additional information on primary sources, if available.
- Source information follows the table and can also be accessed by scrolling.
Footnotes
All footnotes appearing with data in the original publication are included in the tables generated from the database; however, the wording may be slightly changed.
- Footnotes display as superscript numbers to the data.
- Footnotes are not links. All notes appear in a list following the table.
Survey Years
For each country, the year of the survey yielding the data for the measure(s) shown are provided. This information appears in a running list by country following the citation information.
Printing Tables
To accommodate large tables, use "Page Setup" (Netscape or Internet Explorer) to change printing defaults. Using one or more of the following settings, a table of 12-15 measures should print on a legal-size sheet:
- Landscape or horizontal orientation
- 65-85% print scale instead of 100%
- Paper selection, US Legal
Miscellaneous Notes
- Data presented for a given measure in the Tablemaker may not be the most current data held by the Guttmacher Institute. The Tablemaker database holds data sets from selected, previously published print and online reports. Please see "Survey Year" notes at the bottom of each table to gauge currency of the data.
- For some measures, the database contains data from more than one publication or more than one year. The table maker will display the most recent data in the database for each country. If the countries selected result in a combination of data from an older and a newer publication, two columns will display. The column headings will be identical, but the source line immediately below the column heading will indicate different years. NOTE: The two columns may not appear side by side. In general, older data will appear in the column farthest to the right.
