
Sheila Desai joined the Guttmacher Institute in 2015. She has worked on projects related to abortion provision, access, and measurement, and to adolescent sexual health in the United States. Her research also brings into focus the sexual and reproductive health of immigrants and Asian populations in the United States. Dr. Desai was recently named an Emerging Scholar and a Changemaker in Family Planning by the Society of Family Planning. She earned her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her DrPH in Epidemiology from the CUNY School of Public Health. Prior to joining the Guttmacher Institute, Dr. Desai worked for Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco, where her work focused on expanding access to abortion care in California.
