With the start of 2018, Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health reached a major milestone: the beginning of its 50th year of publication. [email protected] celebrated this anniversary by revisiting and, well, putting in perspective archival materials that the journal’s editors consider highlights of its history.

IN 1969, THE YEAR PERSPECTIVES MADE ITS DEBUT:
  • Oliver! won the Oscar for best picture
  • The Beatles released Abbey Road
  • The "miracle" New York Mets won the World Series
  • Man reached the moon

AND

  • 1,872 U.S. counties, of a total of 3,072, had "no identifiable family planning program of any kind," leaving more than 1.4 million "medically indigent" women without services. [Read about it.]
