Abortion

Anyone who needs abortion should be able to get timely, compassionate and affordable care, yet abortion bans and restrictions continue to push care further out of reach for many. The Guttmacher Institute produces relevant research and policy analyses on abortion in the United States, including abortion incidence data. Guttmacher also tracks abortion-related legislation and policies at the federal and state levels.

When pregnant people are denied abortion care in their state, they must overcome often significant financial and logistical barriers to travel far distances to obtain care elsewhere, self-manage their abortion and potentially take on the legal risks that may be associated with doing so, or continue a pregnancy against their wishes.
