About the Consortium

The Family Planning Impact Consortium (FP-Impact) is a multidisciplinary group of researchers and other members of the scientific community convened to generate and disseminate evidence that equips countries with estimates of the value of investing in family planning.

Secretariat

The Guttmacher Institute and Jocelyn E. Finlay, a consultant from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, serve as the secretariat for the consortium. The secretariat provides centralized governance infrastructure for the project while also contributing to the production and dissemination of evidence.

Steering Committee

The steering committee provides overall guidance and strategic oversight of FP-Impact’s work. It is composed of seven high-level advisors who reflect a mix of perspectives (e.g., donor, policy, program) and substantive areas (e.g., family planning/sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, economic development).

  • Aletheia Amalia Donald, World Bank
  • Angela Baschieri, United Nations Population Fund
  • Bamikale Feyisetan, US Agency for International Development
  • Fatou Sow Sarr, Economic Community of West African States

  • Miles Kemplay, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation
  • Oumou Keita, Ouagadougou Partnership

Core Research and Modeling Team

Led by the secretariat and African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), and advised by the technical advisory group, this team develops the modeling scope of work, produces the summary of existing literature, manages model development and assessment, generates model-based estimates and papers, and oversees evidence dissemination and utilization. The team comprises three core members and three modeling groups selected through an open request-for-proposal process.

Core members

  • Nyovani Madise and Naa Dodua Dodoo, AFIDEP
  • Marita Zimmermann and Michelle O’Brien, Institute for Disease Modeling

Technical Advisory Group

A group of 15 multidisciplinary experts advise FP-Impact’s core research and modeling team. The technical advisory group members apply subject-specific knowledge in empowerment, education, economic activity and gender equity, as well as experience in family planning/sexual and reproductive health or population health. The consortium prioritized engaging with experts based in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
