Abortion

Anyone who needs abortion should be able to get timely, compassionate and affordable care, yet abortion bans and restrictions continue to push care further out of reach for many. The Guttmacher Institute produces relevant research and policy analyses on abortion in the United States, including abortion incidence data. Guttmacher also tracks abortion-related legislation and policies at the federal and state levels.

Abortion bans and restrictions have especially harsh impacts on individuals with the fewest resources and who are already marginalized by the health care system. Those include people living with low incomes, Black and Brown communities and other people of color, young people, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities and those in rural communities.
