Rebecca Wind joined the Guttmacher Institute in April 2001 as a Senior Communications Associate and was promoted to Associate Director of Communications in August 2016. In this role, she works closely with the Director of Communications on creating and implementing the Institute’s strategic communications program, and with senior managers in the Department on developing and implementing guidelines and policies that ensure the highest quality of communications, media and marketing activities. Ms. Wind is responsible for overseeing the Institute’s domestic communications outreach to maximize impact and reach, is the Institute’s primary domestic media contact, and works closely with other staff to develop and implement public education resource development and the Institute’s marketing efforts. She also manages and oversees budgets for the Communications & Publications Division’s projects and staff, working in collaboration with project and budget managers in other divisions.
Ms. Wind also serves as the Treasurer of the Board of the New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF), a position she has held since 2010. Ms. Wind came to the Institute from Hill and Knowlton, Inc., where she worked on a variety of corporate and marketing communications media relations campaigns. She received her BA in international relations and Judaic studies from the University of Delaware; her MA in public policy and administration from Columbia University, where she concentrated in gender policy; and her MS in social work from Columbia University, where she received the Mae L. Wien Prize, which is awarded to an outstanding student with a focus on reproductive health.
