The Guttmacher Institute estimates the incidence, consequences and costs of unintended pregnancy globally, regionally and at the country level, and seeks to understand what drives unintended pregnancy rates and trends. We promote policies and strategies that enable women to time and space their pregnancies.
Unintended pregnancy rates remain higher in developing regions than in developed regions. Continued investments are critical to meet the family planning needs of women and couples everywhere.
