Anti-abortion policymakers in the US are using junk science to undermine access to medication abortion.

Welcome back to our series, We covered the basics in part one, and in part two, we'll discuss the safety of medication abortion.

You will hear us say it again and again, medication abortion is safe, effective and essential. Because it is. Decades of scientific evidence from the US and around the world have clearly established mifepristone's strong safety profile.

Other medication abortion regimens, like those that use misoprostol alone, also have long-established safety records. Moreover, evidence has proven that telehealth provision of medication abortion, where patients receive abortion pills by mail after virtually consulting with a clinician, is also safe and effective.

All attacks on medication abortion and its provision through telehealth are based in political ideology, not evidence, and definitely not with patients' interest in mind. 65% of abortions in the United States were medication abortions in 2023.

Restrictions that run counter to robust evidence jeopardize the reproductive freedom and health of hundreds of thousands of people.
