Mercedes Pérez joined the Guttmacher Institute in June 2006. As the Director of Administrative Services, she manages mailroom, facilities, janitorial and reception staff, and oversees office supply/equipment procurement and office space maintenance. Ms. Pérez reports directly to the VP for Finance & Administration, with whom she works to plan and execute capital improvement projects, select vendors and negotiate contracts, and ensure daily office operations are running smoothly.
In 2009, she served on the Sustainability Committee at the Institute’s New York office building. As a committee member, she helped to drive the building’s mechanical retrofit and achieve LEED Certification. In September 2014, she began serving as the Institute’s representative on the Board of Managers for the 125 Maiden Lane Condominium and the Alliance for Downtown New York. Before joining the Institute, Ms. Pérez spent nine years supporting C-level executives at various corporations and higher-education organizations.
