The Guttmacher Institute estimates the incidence, consequences and costs of unintended pregnancy globally, regionally and at the country level, and seeks to understand what drives unintended pregnancy rates and trends. We promote policies and strategies that enable women to time and space their pregnancies.
With improved access to sexual and reproductive health services, the global unintended pregnancy rate has fallen by nearly a fifth since the early 90s.
