Senior Development Associate - Individual Giving

Position summary

Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Senior Development Associate, Data Analytics and Campaign Operations will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the individual giving team, driving donor engagement and revenue growth for Guttmacher’s mission. This position is primarily responsible for database management and coordinating campaigns to support the strategic and revenue goals of the individual giving team’s fundraising initiatives. The Senior Development Associate will provide strategic insights through data analysis and reporting, with the opportunity to work across individual and institutional teams to raise revenue from family foundations and to align the process of the individual and institutional giving teams.

Responsibilities and/or duties 
 

Data Governance, Data Management, and Performance Metrics (60%)  

  • Create and manage detailed reports and dashboards in Salesforce to track key performance indicators (KPIs), assess revenue performance, analyze donor behavior, and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns. Leverage Salesforce queries and data visualization tools in both Salesforce and Excel to gather insights and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and patterns across multiple revenue sources and initiatives, and, in partnership with the Director of Individual Giving, provide actionable insights to inform fundraising strategies.  
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and visuals to inform, measure, and track fundraising efforts, evaluate the success of the individual giving program, and communicate key performance indicators to multiple stakeholders, including senior management and board members through quarterly reports and presentations.  
  • Segment donor lists, execute list pulls, and perform data clean-ups to optimize campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the management team to implement donor portfolio systems. Identify and assign prospects through gift report reviews and portfolio assessments, while developing a donor lifecycle model to enhance the donor experience and increase donor lifetime value.
  • Support revenue forecasting by developing and maintaining a dynamic model, collaborating with finance and development teams, and analyzing budget, cost, and revenue data to assess return on investment and cost per dollar raised, while conducting "what if" analyses with the Director of Individual Giving.
  • Develop internal policies and procedures to monitor and improve data integrity.
  • Serve as a liaison with Salesforce vendors and consultants. 

Campaign Operations Management (40%)  

  • Lead campaign operations by working across internal divisions and with external consultants on all individual giving fundraising campaigns, including omni-channel direct response, planned giving direct response, and the mid-level donor program. 
  • Drive processes that enable the production of multiple donor communication assets, including mailings and digital appeals. 
  • Use project management tools to manage fundraising campaign logistics and develop complex project timelines that reflect roles, tasks, and due dates to ensure project scope is understood by stakeholders and work is completed as planned. 
  • Work cross-divisionally and with consultants to ensure campaign assets (copy, graphics) are created and deployed. 
  • Support virtual and in-person donor event logistics on an as needed basis. 
  • Conduct excellent relationship management with internal cross-divisional staff members and external consultants. 

Other Duties  

  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders to advance the goals of the Development Division and Guttmacher as a whole. 
  • Assist the Individual Giving team and perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Participate in cross–divisional meetings about the Salesforce database.  
  • Participate in cross-divisional meetings about Asana, Guttmacher’s project management platform.  
  • Participate in regular meetings with external consultants. 
     
Qualifications and skills
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working with a CRM database, experience with Salesforce preferred;  
  • Experience with or willingness to learn how to work in wealth screening and planned giving databases like IWave/Kindsight and FreeWill or Giving Docs; 
  • Experience with successfully managing multiple stakeholders to achieve project deliverables 
  • Exceptional analytical skills and data interpretation capabilities 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills 
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to take initiative and use independent judgement in carrying out responsibilities, organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines 
  • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and with a multidisciplinary staff of professionals;  
  • Experience working in a fundraising department a plus; 
  • Experience working in a project management platform a plus; 
  • Knowledge or experience in social sciences and/or reproductive health, rights, and justice a plus; and  
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a workplace setting a plus. 
Salary and benefits

The salary range for this position is between $89,092 to $133,900 and will be commensurate with experience. The range is specific to New York and DC, but base pay may vary depending on a wide range of factors. New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on knowledge, skills and experience, and qualifications. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer. This is a Union represented position. The Guttmacher Institute practices a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance 8 days per month at our NYC location.
