Abortion

Anyone who needs abortion should be able to get timely, compassionate and affordable care, yet abortion bans and restrictions continue to push care further out of reach for many. The Guttmacher Institute produces relevant research and policy analyses on abortion in the United States, including abortion incidence data. Guttmacher also tracks abortion-related legislation and policies at the federal and state levels.

The Hyde Amendment is discriminatory—it exacerbates inequities in access to abortion by banning federally funded health insurance programs from covering abortion care. That’s why policymakers must enact proactive policies that ensure coverage for abortion and the full spectrum of reproductive health care.
