Uganda

The Guttmacher Institute’s work in Uganda has addressed a number of issues, including documenting the health benefits of meeting women’s contraceptive needs; estimating the incidence of abortion and unintended pregnancy, and the health consequences of unsafe abortion; and estimating the cost of unsafe abortion to the health care system and to households. The Institute has also documented the sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents to support expanding fact-based, comprehensive sex education and youth-friendly, confidential services.
