The Guttmacher Institute conducts global and country-level research to estimate adolescent pregnancy rates; document adolescents’ access to sexual and reproductive health information and services; and promote fact-based, comprehensive sex education and youth-friendly, confidential services. This research sheds light on young people’s needs for sexual and reproductive health information and services, provides policymakers with evidence to inform effective programs and offers policy recommendations to address unmet needs.
Ethiopia is one of only a handful of countries to eliminate barriers to legal abortion specifically for adolescents. As a result, young women are more likely to access safe abortion care than any other age-group there.
Your support enables the Guttmacher Institute to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in the United States and globally through our interrelated program of high-quality research, evidence-based advocacy and strategic communications.
